Places that do not fit a cafe, bakery, tea, breakfast or nearby-store category land here: tourist attractions, parks and museums with a cafe on site, and unrelated businesses that came in through an import or a Google Maps match. Attraction cafes usually keep the venue's hours and may require admission to reach, so check before making the trip; park kiosks and museum coffee counters are often seasonal. Other listings are kept so that an old address or phone number still resolves and can be re-filed into the right category later.

No hours are on file. If you plan a visit, phone first or check the Google Maps link on this page for the latest times. The listed phone number is (217) 544-7387. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is apl-shelter.org, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 785 reviews, which is a strong result for an other place in Springfield and suggests consistent service.

We adopted our dog Iggy years ago from APL, we were lucky to have his love for sixteen years. He was the best dog, Animal Protective League does a great job. Right now they are in bad shape a tornado ripped through grounds. There is a lot of damage, so if you can please volunteer or give a donation..Thank you..

The staff here are always friendly, very caring, and will answer all of your questions. I've adopted 2 cats from them, one indoor that started out as a foster and another outdoor for my shop and the girls made the adoption processes super easy and explained everything. I highly recommend going through their foster program, they provide everything you need while fostering and there are so many animals that need temporary families while waiting for the right ones to adopt them.

They help animals reach potential for re-homing them, so they can be adopted. They have a spay/neuter clinic for cats to cut down on the breeding (not sure if the same can be said about dogs, but most likely). They help people with pet food when times are tight, of which they take donations. They have helped me in the past, more than once. They helped me with spaying/chipping/& shots for a feral cat that had an upper respiratory infection that was killing her, so thank you for that. She is now happy, and living indoors with me. Even though I can pet her, she probably won't ever lay in my lap, or try to sleep with me, but the closest she's been to that is sitting next to me briefly, so who knows.

We adopted Lola from this shelter about 6 years ago, the staff was helpful and nice and the location was clear and comfortable! Lola passed away a week ago to kidney disease and she was the greatest companion someone could ask for. If you are looking to adopt please consider this shelter!

I got my kitty from here when she was a kitten! She’s an orange tabby and her name was Flame (in case the staff remembers her) but she’s spoiled rotten and definitely knows who she rules over lmao! She did develop feline herpes but the shelter couldn’t have known that when she was so little. Here’s some pictures of her, this is a really cheap and nice place to get furry friends :)
